It is Time

Dear friends,

I know it has been some time since I last wrote to you. I ask for your forgiveness for my prolonged absence — I have no particular explanation for it, other than the fact that I have simply been tired, and felt the need to rest and reflect on all that has been happening in our lives, our nation, and our world. I stopped watching the news and disengaged from all social media (even though the only social media I was using was WordPress). I felt the need to be still, think, and rest.

I now understand that I was approaching the end of one season, and the beginning of another. Sometimes, when the Lord calls us to something, we think, “I’ll be doing this forever,” when in fact He may call us to it for a few days, weeks, months, or years. We can get so attached to the calling that we forget to listen to the directions from the Caller. It is possible to get so attached to an identity or ministry — one that we genuinely love — that we are unable or unwilling to step away from it when the Lord says, “It is time.”

So He started saying, “It is time” last year.

I protested. Took a break, prayed on it and waited. Blogged here and there. Bought a domain name, and really doubled down on the blogging. Or so I thought.

Again: “It is time.”

“No,” I thought, “that can’t be right. Let me take a break, focus on other things, and come back to it.”

And that is what I did. And here I am months later, and the message is still the same! “It is time.”

That’s the funny thing about God — He doesn’t change His message — He just says it louder until the message finally sinks in and we obey.

So friends, I come to you with the news that it is indeed time for me to hang up my blogging cap. It has been a joy and a privilege to get to know you all over the past few years. Thanks to those of you who started with me when I penned Daily Thankful, and then those of you who joined me with this blog, Daily Hopeful; you have been more of a blessing to me than you may ever know this side of eternity. I thank you for your wonderful blog posts, and how the Holy Spirit spoke through your words on many occasions to speak directly to my heart. Again, I thank you.

Still, it is time. So I bid you all the fondest of farewells. I have never been great with goodbyes, and this one is particularly bittersweet. And yet, it is time — thank you for understanding.

One last thing: after all of these years, many of you wanted to know what my real name is (it’s not “Daily”). Some of you who have written to my privately know my name, but most of you do not. So I thought I’d tell you.

My name is Taryn. And it is has been a joy of my life to get to know each of you through your blogs and comments. Know that I wish the Lord’s very best to each of you, and will miss you all very much. I am grateful to God for the support, prayers, and wisdom that you have shared with me over the years! You are a blessing.

Warm regards,
Taryn (aka “Daily”)

  2. Taryn, God bless you for your obedience. I’ve known, ever since I’ve known you, that you walk with your heart open to Him, always happy to do His bidding, receiving your joy from Him. I’m so glad that He’s given you some of that joy through us.
I miss your insightful blog posts. Your heart is with God, and He is reflected through all your words. Your posts always stirred my spirit and made me dig deeper into God’s Word; for that I thank you. And chuckles! (I will never forget the laughs we had over “I see boxes” and what came from it.)
    Godspeed, my dear friend.
See you in Heaven, or in the air, Taryn!
