This passage from Romans 12 – a great chapter on living well with God and others if ever there was one! – is my prayer focus for 2019 and beyond. My hope simply is to grow in wisdom and discernment by doing as the Bible suggests: keeping my mind renewed by focusing on what is true, all the while recognizing that my resolve can and will be tested by things (and people!) I cannot control. Recognizing that this is a fact of life leads to greater understanding and acceptance, but this is not easy for me by any means! This is only possible with God’s help.
Feel free to join me in prayer now:
Dear Lord, thank You for seeing me through 2018 and into 2019! I am grateful to You for all the ways that You have shown Your care and love for me. While life has not been easy, there has been an unexpected sweetness to it as of late, and I know that such an explanation-defying state of mind and heart can only come from You.
I ask for Your guidance so that I can keep my mind spiritually “fresh” each day, rather than focusing on that which does not profit. You know me too well – I can all-too-easily get distracted by what’s going on around me, rather than remembering Who walks alongside me each day. To that end, I’m going to need Your help in a BIG way to keep my mind, will, and emotions on track. Though I may mess up from time to time, I’m thankful that my relationship with You is not predicated on my performance, but solely on Your love and grace! What a priceless gift. In Your name I pray, amen.

Thank you! I try to do so weekly – usually on Thursdays, if everything goes according to plan (and sometimes it doesn’t). Perhaps I will add more prayers this year – I really haven’t decided. We will see how the Lord leads! God bless you. ✝️

Thank you so very much! After all, if we knew where God was leading us, it wouldn’t be much of an adventure, would it? 😉

What a beautiful prayer. God Almighty is in us and through us – unfathomable!
Your post brings to mind Philippians 2.5 & 8b: Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus… he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Less of me, more of Christ; out with my fleshly mind, renewed and transformed with the mind of Christ.

Thank you for sharing such wonderful verses of Scripture, Kathy! Those verses had not come to mind initially, but since you mentioned them, I see how they fit nicely with the Romans 12 passage (and what the Lord wants me to learn from it). Grateful for you, as always! 🧡
