Important Reminder

With all that is happening in the world today, it’s easy for us to find ourselves feeling anxious and afraid. However, when that happens, rather than wholeheartedly embracing worry, I can choose to focus the truth of God’s Word, rather than dwelling on a lie. This passage from 2 Timothy 1 says it best:

God has given us a spirit of power – His power – so I needn’t feel weak or timid.

He’s also given us a spirit of love – His love – so I can be secure in who (and Whose) I am, rather than looking for love in all the wrong places: in my accomplishments, which can never satisfy in and of themselves, or in the wrong kinds of people (who take and take, but rarely give. There is another word for that, but I assure you it’s not love).

Finally, the Lord has equipped us with a spirit of self-discipline, so I can trust that He will give me the wherewithal to persevere through even the most difficult of situations. Is there a challenge facing you today? Trust that the Lord is with you every step of the way, and rest in the knowledge that He’ll get you through it – filling you a sense of strength and optimism that you didn’t even know was possible!

So let’s remember what we’re not (fearful, timid), and call to mind all that God has given us – power, love, and self-discipline. This truth is a very important reminder for all of us, no? 💡
