I can be hopeful today because I have been forgiven much; as a consequence, I am able to extend that forgiveness to others. Notice that I said I am able to forgive those who hurt me – I did not say that this necessarily was easy or immediate. Sometimes, it’s a process.
I’ve learned that when I keep the channels the forgiveness open, I tend to be in better alignment with the Lord. When I hold onto things and let resentment built up in my heart and mind, then a misalignment begins to form in my relationship with God. And I don’t want that.
What about you?
I agree. With that misalignment comes a lot more troubles than just the unwillingness to forgive. It truly is a ripple effect.

You are right, and I agree – I’ve experienced this personally. It’s just not worth it to hold onto unforgiveness, as doing so inevitably harms us more than it ever does the other person.

You are so right. It’s more like a form of self punishment.

Very true. How it must grieve the heart of God to watch us do this to ourselves!

I know what you mean my friend. It has to grieve His heart watching lots of things that I do, not only to myself but in lots of situations. He says though when I am weak, He is strong. And I know He uses those weaknesses to teach me, and make me into the person He wants me to be :):)

You have a strong biblical perspective on your circumstances, Margaret. I commend you for that! 🙂
